Spirit Obstacle Course· Poomsae · Board Breaking · Sparring — plus Competition Rules. ($100 Registration includes 2 events of your choice. $20 for each additional event)
TKD SPIRIT OBSTACLE COURSE COMPETITION
Directed by a master/instructor on the competition floor, spirit participants will be judged on:
- Focus and kihap
- Horse riding stance with basic punching
- Energy
- Movement
- Board Breaking
- Fastest to finish the obstacle course
Poomsae
- White belts age 6 and up
- Yellow belts and higher — age 6+
- Single elimination format. Top 4 compete for Grand Champion
- Judged on ability to perform the form for current rank, balance, rhythm, and manner
- Group Poomsae: 3–6 members. Family Form: 2–6 related members, Taeguek only.
Board
Breaking
Ten point scoring system based on technique and presentation: balance, rhythm, manners, and kihap from entrance to completion.
- Demo boards for under 25 lbs · 1 inch boards for 15+ lbs
- Color Belts: 3 boards — Any 1 Hand + Any 1 Kick + Freestyle
- Black Belts: 4 boards — Any 1 Hand + Any 2 Kicks + Freestyle
- Boards provided at the ring
- No props. Only competitor and board holders on the mat.
Sparring
Format: Random seeding · Single elimination
- Mouth guard is mandatory
- Face shield provided on request
- No Head Contact: All color belts · Black belts ages 10 & under
- Light Head Contact: Black belts ages 11–14
- Head Contact: Black belts ages 15 and up
- 2 rounds of one minute each, with 30 second rest
Competition Rules
World Taekwondo Federation (WT) rules govern all championships. The organizing committee reserves the right to adopt changes as deemed necessary.
- Standard white V-neck uniform in good condition. Black trim for poom/black belts only.
- Competitors must provide their own safety/sparring equipment.
- Grouped by gender, age, belt, and weight.
- Individual awards: 1st, 2nd, and two 3rd places per event bracket.
- Must be 16+ and a current TKD student, instructor, or master.
- Must attend the Saturday morning coaches meeting at the tournament location.
- No floor access without proper credentials.
Coaches' Meeting: All coaches must attend the Saturday morning meeting held at the tournament location prior to door opening. Credentials are issued then and required for Saturday floor access.
